Health and SAfety
Under the new Safety at Work Act, businesses or PCBUs (persons undertaking a business or undertaking) must take practical steps to ensure health and safety in the workplace. There is also greater accountability for senior officers to ensure that the business complies with health and safety obligations - with stiffer penalties for neglecting responsibilities. Businesses will also need to consult with other businesses where it shares a worksite, for example contractors working on your premises, to ensure health and safety requirements are adhered to. Employees will need to be engaged and empowered to ensure a continuous focus on occupational health and safety.
